A barrier film is a flexible packaging material engineered to block oxygen, moisture, light, and aroma, measured by two rates: OTR (oxygen) and WVTR (water vapour) — lower values mean longer shelf life. Antilia Tec Pack's BARRIXA™ system delivers this in four tiers — SMART, PRO, PRIME, and ULTRA (down to OTR ≤0.08, WVTR ≤0.06, a foil-free near-aluminium barrier) — so each product is matched to the exact barrier its shelf-life target needs, never over-engineered.
BARRIXA™ is Antilia Tec Pack's brand of high-barrier flexible packaging films. Offered in four performance tiers — SMART, PRO, PRIME and ULTRA — it protects food and produce against oxygen, moisture and light, so you only pay for the barrier your product actually needs.
What is BARRIXA™
Every flexible pack Antilia makes — pouches, MAP bags, lidding and specialty films — can be built on a BARRIXA™ structure tuned to your product. Instead of over-engineering (and over-paying), you select the tier that delivers exactly the oxygen and moisture barrier your shelf-life target requires.
Barrier is measured by two numbers: OTR (Oxygen Transmission Rate) and WVTR (Water Vapour Transmission Rate) — see our full OTR & WVTR guide. The lower the values, the longer your product stays fresh — and BARRIXA™ ULTRA reaches near-aluminium performance without the foil. Barrier film is also what holds the gas mix inside Modified Atmosphere Packaging.

The Four Tiers
BARRIXA™ is available in four performance tiers, allowing you to select the optimum barrier level for your product while balancing performance and cost. Each tier is engineered to provide the required oxygen and moisture barrier for the desired shelf life.

Yes — BARRIXA™ structures are available with up to 8-colour flexo or rotogravure printing and custom laminate builds. MOQ is 350 kg for custom-printed orders and 100 kg for unprinted, typically shipping within 20–25 days of artwork confirmation.
OTR (Oxygen Transmission Rate, in cc/m²/day) is how much oxygen passes through a film in a day; WVTR (Water Vapour Transmission Rate, in g/m²/day) is how much water vapour passes through. Lower values mean slower oxidation and moisture gain, so longer shelf life. Antilia Tec Pack engineers BARRIXA™ films to specific OTR and WVTR targets, validated against ASTM/ISO methods (OTR @ 23°C/0% RH; WVTR @ 38°C/90% RH).
It depends on shelf-life target and sensitivity: dry goods and MAP produce suit BARRIXA™ SMART (OTR < 0.50); snacks, coffee and spices suit PRO (OTR/WVTR < 0.20); dairy and pharma suit PRIME (< 0.10); retort, vacuum and foil-replacement suit ULTRA (OTR < 0.08, WVTR < 0.06).
